May 7, 2017 Lazy Sunday

Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Aside from being busy, the week ended well! No migraines for a couple of days either, despite the weather changes from cold to warm and back. I’ve ended up pretty exhausted every evening though. Some of you already know about me having to pack up my belongings that a friend of mine kept in storage for me in their free storage room they didn’t need. But because they increased the rent dramatically for that apartment, my friend is moving out. We had hoped we will have found a solution for all my stuff by now, but because everything came different from what we had planned back then, my furniture and household goods had been there the entire time since 2012.

So I’m working on that every day a little bit and then help with cooking and a bunch of other stuff at home that my Dad was usually doing, since my he is not able to do much with that bandage on his hand at the moment. He isn’t in any pain though, it’s just a hindrance.

Murli was able to enjoy the sun yesterday and today for the most part, even though we were supposed to get rain all weekend and the temperatures were supposed to drop pretty low again. It’s also warm enough today for us to leave at least the small window open, which is always wonderful.

On Friday it was still a bit too chilly for open windows all afternoon, but at least we had sun for the most part. There were definitely enough sun puddles for Murli to enjoy. The sun was already gone from that spot when I took the picture of her at the kitchen window. There are always a lot of birds zooming by here.

Murli “I cud have swears me saws sumthin. Sumthin waz there jus nao. Maybe iz comin back! I better keepz lookin.”

The kitchen window. Even though I’d put all kinds of blankies and even one of her kitty beds there, she goes and naps next to them MOL. But the cooler surface is better when it’s getting hot anyway.

Murli sends purrs and paw hugs to all of you and we think of the ones who are sad and have difficult times. Love to you all!

  1. Sunday is not close to over yet and it is busy for me. Busy for Scooby who went outside as well. That is a treat. I have to ask the question–of myself as well–if you or I have stuff stored for 5 years, do we really need it afterall??? When I moved here ten years ago, I still have some big boxes with stuff in them, because I did not know where to put it! I don’t know where to put it today! Mostly china, crystal, and things like I were going to throw a big important dinner party, but I think not! Nice window spot to sleep by.

    1. Very good question! And it’s good to think about that when you find yourself with too much stuff, or stuff that’s been sitting in storage without being needed in all that time. It’s probably why I do get rid of quite a bit. And it actually feels good when you were able to do that☺️

The things that I keep are the things I need when I have my own place again, like all the pots, pans, china and other goods like that. Then there’s my desk, dining table and chairs, who have a lot of emotional value to me, in addition to them being really pretty. Those were gifts from my Mum. Especially the desk was one we picked out when our plans were that I would be looking for a new apartment in the near future. The dining table and chairs where a surprise from Mum back in 2000, when I had my first own apartment with 20. So they are really treasured.

Originally, it wasn’t supposed to be stored there for so long. But after unexpectedly losing Mum to very aggressive and quickly progressing form of lung cancer, I ended up staying with my Dad. It helped both of us that way. But we didn’t have room to store all the additional furniture. I will take the table and desk apart with a friend and hopefully I can fit it all somewhere like that. The china and stuff is not that much of a problem to store. Everything else I give away to friends who need it, and donate furniture to a place that’s like a thrift shop for furniture.

Haha, I know that feeling of not knowing where to put something.
Oh yes, Murli loves that window! Looking forward to when the temperatures are finally warm enough to keep it open, with the wire grid screen in the window frame, for Murlis safety.

Hope you have a great start into the new week!

    1. 😹😹😹Of course! You are totally right. Murli completely agrees😹😂 But because her stuff is the most important, we took it all with us when we moved into my parents home. So all her stuff is with us already. The things that have been stored there, that I’m packing up now, are all my stuff. Mostly household items and some furniture.

Hope you have a beautiful day with your sweet cats! 💕

  4. Hi Natascha: Seems I am quite far behind on the goings-on in your Life. I hope your father’s hand is healing well & soon he will be back good as new!!
I remember when I used to have to store things @ my Sister’s….I was so relieved when I finally got my own place back in 1987.
My BEST friends’ house is sold & they have til May 30th midnight to vacate. So they are in the midst of sorting & sending their treasured furniture to storage in the neighboring town. It is a lot of work.
Funny how we get attached to furniture & items isn’t it???? I would NEVER give up my Nanna’s Tobacco Stand! It is my prayer altar. And I love the cat table I won last year & my precious ‘new’ chair…..lol…
Did you get everything sorted out?

    1. Could also be that I’m behind on posting about everything lol!
Thank you!! Yes, Papas hand is really healing well. Wont be long anymore now and he wont need a bandage anymore. It’s not bleeding anymore or anything. It’s just for protection.

Oh I hear you about the pawsome feeling of having your own place. And I’ll be relieved when my remaining stuff is sorted out. All the impawtant things come here and just a bit of old furniture will be donated to a place that’s like a thrift store for furniture. Thankfully we still have time, so it’s not extremely stressful or anything to get my stuff sorted. But I want to get it done before the summer heat sets in. Because I don’t do well with heat at all, especially not with that extremely humid heat we have going on. The temperatures in summer have increased over the last two decades. Wasn’t that extreme before.

Hope everything goes purrfectly with the move for your best friend! It’s so much work to move homes…

Yes! And I get attached to everything that has emotional value to me. It can be a fairly small item I will hang on to forever, because it belonged to Mama, or my Grandma, or it was with our family for a long time. I also will never give up on anything like that EVER lol. It doesn’t matter if I have to carefully take it apart to make it fit in here (like my beautiful desk). It will be put together again in the future.

Aww yes your beautiful cat table you won! I remember your post about it and how happy you were! The littul Purrince approved of it too! 😺 Haha, the chair looks so comfy! Murli would love to nap on it.

Everything is going great with my stuff. I have help for it next week too.
((((Hugs)))) Natascha & Murli *head rubs* & *nose kisses* & love to you both!❤️️

  5. Hello Natascha & Murli…..well my dear I had a Migraine last night….I rarely get them so when one hits; it knocks me flat on my back!! I only had Acetaminophen & it does not help that kind of pain. I rubbed Myoflex Arthritis ointment on my forehead & temples. It has Aspirin in it & that helped somewhat.
I ended up in bed from 7-10pm. Got up & made a hot mug of decaf Tea & read for a while. Played toys with P SH & went back to sleep b4 midnight.
I still feel ‘achey’ today but not like last night. How you live with this daily amazes me. You are a strong woman!
As for sentimental attachment, I just gave away a bunch of items from my 1st marriage (1974). I realized I no longer cared about any of it. I am going thru everything & getting rid of unneeded or unwanted items.
And the same here about humidity! So far it has been damp & chilly which also flares up the Arthritis….can’t win can I???
    Regards to your Father & <3 & {{hugs}} Sherri-Ellen
