April 27, 2017 Catching up

Yay! Today is the first day of me feeling normal and awake again. For the past two weeks, I had been ill again… Due to a bout of the shingles, which thankfully were not bad. I had chicken pox as a child, so since then I had that Virus in me. In the first days before anything became apparent, I had severe fatigue and I just didn’t feel right at all. Then at the end of the Easter weekend, the rash started, but just a very small area on the right side over my ribs. Went to the doctor right after the Easter weekend and got a Antiviral and pain meds prescribed. Thankfully the antiviral medicine was able to prevent it from actually breaking out fully, since the treatment was started early enough, and because it was a mild case.

The medicine made me very tired though. As long as I did something I was ok, but as soon as I would sit down and start to read or write, my eyes wanted to close. Many times over the last week, have I fallen asleep while sitting on the couch with my ipad… Hilarious!

I’m finally feeling fully awake again today. Hopefully I’ll have a good phase without migraines for a bit, because there’s so much I want to do and I’m looking forward to be able to catch up with all of your lovely blogs, as well as with all our furends on instagram and twitter ❤️️

Murli is doing purrfect! But she’d love to have more days with comfortable temperatures and sun puddles to nap in. Unfortunately, our weather here in Austria, and other parts of Europe, continue to have unusually cold weather. First there was the stormy and cold weather I wrote about. Then a few days with milder temperatures and a bit of sun followed. The Foehn wind was howling again on Tuesday and brought warm air from the south. The next day, the Foehn wind was gone, but the temperatures were falling again, which created more wind, just not Foehn wind. Today it’s grey, dark and rainy. The mountains are also getting snow again and it’s possible that we’ll get some of it as well.

But we will enjoy a cuddly and comfy weekend. Murli on my lap, and a coffee next to me, I’m not complaining at all. The only thing I worry about is how animal and plant life are coping with that kind of weather.

April 27, 2017 10:26am

Here is a video I took on Tuesday, as the Foehn Wind was howling through the door. Murli isn’t afraid of those things, as they’re happening all the time and she’s used to it all. But her little nose is sniffing into the air, as the air current brings all kinds of smells with it I’m sure😸

In the video, Murli is about to get her meal, and she knows of course. I was about to go into the kitchen, when I decided to film that howling of the wind. I’m kind of sure she’s thinking what I’m doing there filming the door, instead of getting her meal ready lol…

I also wanted to show you one of the trees that grow on the river bank, that had fallen during those stormy days after the Easter weekend. I came across that fallen tree on my way to a grocery store. There were many fallen trees more along the river banks. But I’m kind of sure that the trees that did fall due to the wind, were already weakened in some way. (You can click on the images to see them in a larger view)

I also found a left over Christmas tree 😂😹 I had to think of Siddhartha Henry’s LadyMum Sherri-Ellen of nylabluesmum.wordpress.com when I saw that Christmas tree, because we were talking about exactly this kind of thing shortly after Christmas and how people throw Christmas trees down the river banks and into rivers and all kinds of other places lol.

Hope you all are doing fine! Murli and I wish you all a pleasant Thursday!

January 13, 2017 at 10:30am Huge snowflakes! (video)

At about 10:30am, it suddenly started to snow heavily! It was amazing, look at those huge snowflakes! Papa and I went outside shortly after this video, because we needed to get some groceries. You couldn’t even see very much when we were walking outside. I think the snowfall got even heavier while we were out there. I loved it though! I took my umbrella with me btw, and about every 3 minutes or less, I had to shake the snow off my umbrella, because it got heavy from the snow😹! Unbelievable. There was so much snow collecting within a very short time and it was really nice and fluffy too. But because the city had strewn nothing but rock salt onto the streets these days, the snow was melting as soon as it hit the ground. But it didn’t melt completely, it all just turned into a nasty kind of 15cm thick layer of slippery slush. It was very slippery. Thankfully neither one of us faceplanted the street.

Usually the city would always just strew some sort of gravel onto the streets. I have no idea why they suddenly used nothing but the salt this winter season.

It was still wonderful though! I completely enjoyed walking in that heavy snowfall and I really hoped it would continue to snow like this for the whole weekend.  Unfortunately it quit snowing by noon. Murli LOVES to watch these huge snowflakes dance in front of the window😸 I really would have wanted more of this. But the forecast says there’s still a chance for more snow for us here.

It seemed like this snowfall was all over Europe! Because suddenly the news feeds on many social media sites were full with videos and pictures of that heavy snowfall lol❄️❄️❄️

January 11, 2017

January 11 2017 9:46am

Another frigid day! Only 0°F / -17.7°C an hour before sunrise (Sunrise was at  7:42am). It created beautiful ice flowers! These were on the kitchen window, and when I took that photo, it was already almost 10am and much “warmer” outside and so the ice on the window was already melting. That melt created these cute formations❄️

It was sunny all day, so Murli could have a nice sunshine nap on the window sill😺☀️

Murli and I wish you all a happy WhiskersWednesday!😺

January 8, 2017 More snow and ice

This mornings ice flowers, while it was -9°C / 15.8°F outside. The lowest temperature this dreary morning was at -11°C / 12.2°F with freezing cold wind. As it continues to be that chilly, I continue to be free from migraines. For as long as it stays like this, I get to have a break. At least from migraines caused by warmer, spring-like weather and Foehn wind.

It started snowing as well:

Murli and I didn’t get that much sleep, since we stayed up pay past 2am, playing, cuddling and me on my iPad, trying to catch up on what I missed online that day😸 Despite that, she was energetic and awake, running zoomies around the home and playing. There was lots of playtime until she suddenly felt tired… and was lost in her thoughts, while trying to decide between playing or napping. She decided to take a nap btw🐱💤💤💤

January 8 2017 11:04am

As the snow continued to fall lightly, Murli curled up on the bed and slept all afternoon. There was a lot more playtime in the evening, with the latest box she got to keep. The one from Caturdays delivery😸📦

January 8 2017 6:54pm

Btw, she starts to get more black whiskers on the right side of her face (her right). The ends of her right sides whiskers are also black. They grew out white, but then make a gradient into black. Her left side still has more white ones, but some of them also have black ends. It’s been changing around like this ever since she was a kitten, including the whiskers above her eyes.

In case you didn’t read it when I talked about it, but her MamaCat was a tabby and her PapaCat was completely black. That way, Murli still has a strong tabby gene in her. The fluff fur, under the cover fur has the tabby stripes slightly visible. But they were the most apparent with her fluffy kitten fur when she was little: Take a look here

Anyway, in photos it might look like she has lost whiskers on one side, but they are just hard to see since they’re black 😸

Have a lovely day and night everyone! Hope everyone is well and warm❤️❤️❤️

January 7, 2017 Ice cold Caturday

The temperatures dropped lower yesterday and even lower over night. An ice cold wind was blowing all day, and the cold stung and hurt in my hands within just a few seconds, just when I opened the window for a short period to get fresh air in. At night, at about 10pm, the wind was even colder than during the day and it was a clear sky. Which meant of course that the temperatures are going to drop even more over night.

These ice flowers formed yesterday. It was 10pm when I took these photos and the temperature was -8°C / 17.6°F

Over night the temperatures dropped even more of course. I woke up at about 5:30am, while it was still dark outside and I could hear by the sound the tram makes on their rail, that it must be ice cold outside. Because when it gets really cold, they make much more noise in their rails. During more mild temperatures you can’t hear it at all from where I am. It has been very quiet over night, the street empty. No one wants to walk around in these temperatures lol. I also find things sound kind of muffled when it gets to -10°C / 14°F

Yesterday, Friday, was a holiday here. And the delivery with Murlis food for the month arrived today. Of course I got her some more toys again…😹
