The Seasons in the garden

On Saturday I noticed just how low the sun already sits in the sky as it slowly sinks below the roof of the house across from us at 4:55pm (summertime). During the summer, the sun is still high in the sky and the tall tree gives us shade from it in the late afternoon, early evening.

Here are a few photos of the sun’s positions

On October 8, 2019 at 5:17pm (summertime) the sun was already vanishing behind the roof. Now, the sun is going down behind the roof much farther to the left, and at 4:55pm (summertime).

On September 5, 2019 is still reached the tree before it sank behind the other houses at 6:14pm (summertime).

In the summer, on June 25, 2019 the sun was high in the sky at 5:06pm (summertime) and it would stay sunny for many more hours during that time of the year.

It’s amazing how quickly the seasons change and it’s interesting to see the seasons change in the plants and trees of the garden. So I thought it might be interesting to post a bunch of pictures showing the different seasons in the garden.

I was worried the number of photos would be too much for one post, but considering I decreased the size of all the photos a lot, it should not cause a big impact on loading time and bandwidth.

Over the two years we lived here, I took a lot of photos of the garden. Many times when it was cloudy, because I just love to photograph clouds and cloudy skies. So it might look like it’s often cloudy here, even though it’s not ;-) Also, the photos are from different years, so things are looking different in some photos, like the small tree in the middle, which was destroyed more and more over the course of a couple of storms.

Time change to Wintertime

The cats and I aren’t used to the daylight savings time change. Sonic comes up meowing for me to come to bed at 9pm, because to him, it still feels like 10pm. He doesn’t care that silly humans have silly time changes twice a year. Murli and Samantha don’t care either, they want their breakfast at about the same time. So, of course, they feel like I’m late in getting up. Therefore, I’m getting up at 7am at the moment, since it would be 8am normally.

Just like with the cats, my feeling for the time is screwed up and exactly an hour wrong too. I keep feeling as if it’s exactly an hour later than it is.

Today I had to use my bicycle light again for the first time since last winter. It was completely dark by the time I was on my way home from the pharmacy and grocery shopping at 5pm. It was a dark day anyway, with thick overcast and rain all day. The temperatures are a lot lower now.

In another sign that winter is definitely coming now, they are starting to put up the Christmas lights in the city. Usually, I saw them mount the lights near my old home on November 1st. Though they have probably always started earlier in other areas of the city and I just never noticed it. The huge Christmas tree on the main square will be put up around the 1st of November as well usually and the Christmas markets will be opened soon after. The Christmas lights remain dark until the 1st of December though.

I really can’t believe how fast time goes by. I’m not feeling any Christmas vibes at all yet, but I’m looking forward to decorating our home in a few weeks ;-)

Also looking forward to the long weekend! Hope you all have a great week <3

April 2, 2017 Hope you had a lovely Sunday

March 28 2017 8:41am

Good evening from Austria! As you probably noticed again, I am lagging behind with replies and everything. Due to the “Foehn wind weather” we had for over a week now, I also had migraines almost every day. Except for today, and another day during the week. But, as you know, I am doing well thanks to the always working Triptan, that gets rid of the migraine every time after one or two hours. The only problems are the after effects from the migraine. And those after effects cause me to lag behind with everything again. Just letting you know!

This week was totally spring like! Temperatures in the afternoon at around 20°C / 68°F and sunshine with clear blue sky. The mornings are still a bit chilly, with temps between 2°C and 4°C (35°F and 39°F).

I was able to leave some of the windows open during the afternoon and I started decorating for spring and easter🌼🌷☀️🌸

Murli is a good girl, and she is used to decorations in the windows, so she doesn’t do anything to them. She just checked them out thoroughly and approved, and that’s it😺 When I the put the protective screen with the wire frame into the window, the decorations are outside the screen anyway. I just love cute stuff!

March 31 2017 6:37pm

Murli is totally happy that the windows are open again for most of the day! In this pic, she was watching  “bird channel 1″😸 It showed a sparrow, that sat on top of the pyramid-shaped roof, to the right. (You can’t really see it that well, because it’s just so small.)

Oh, btw… she just really loves newspapers and stuff to hang out on. She just loves them. But so that things are pretty again, I’ll put her lovely blankie there as well.

Also! We found Murlis “baskitball”! Ameowzing! Sweet Siddhartha Henry was right. I found her ball underneath the cupboard in the hallway😹 She stuffed it under there real good! Before that, I was looking in the living room, the bedroom, even the kitchen and the bathroom, but didn’t see it underneath the cupboard in the hallway when I looked there. Should have used the flashlight right away back then lol…

Just wanted to wish you all a lovely Sunday evening! Will be hopefully posting some more in the beginning of next week, if I get a break from the migraines. But I’ll be replying and stopping by all your pawsome blogs tomorrow!

I’m so happy to know you all and am really thankful for all your sweet comments! Murli and I really miss you all because we haven’t been here for days. Purrs & Hugs! We love you all!💗💜❤️️💗

January 16, 2017 Murlis reaction to the missing Christmas tree (video)

Even though I wanted to keep the Christmas tree until the end of the month, but the tree began to really deteriorate even more within the last few days… It got soooo dry, and the branches were sag lower and lower, so low that Murli was only able to crawl around with her belly touching the floor, below the tree, instead of zooming around it, like it was possible before. I also had to constantly pick pine needles out of her fur lol. I found pine needles nested and stuck within her fur all the time, when we were cuddling. Even though it was getting quite dry for some time now, we kept it for as long as it was possible. But it had to go now. Sadly…

I worried Murli would be sad, because she absolutely loved the tree. It was her first big tree, at least quite bigger than the table top trees she knew until this Christmas. My parents always had huge trees, like up to the ceiling… So it wasn’t my first big tree.

In the hope to make it less sad for her, I cut off the branches, her branches, where she would always rub her little head into while the tree was here. I put her branches next to the spot where the tree was. Also, I put together what was available, to make a new place for her where she could hide, play around and hang out. Kind of as replacement, so there wouldn’t just be an empty spot instead of the tree. She loves when I put boxes like that, with the opening facing away and to a wall or similar. I also put toys in and around there, including some valerian root toys and some cat nip stuff.

Anyway, Murli was napping in another room, and she had not seen yet that the tree was gone. So I filmed when she came out and saw all of that for the first time and that her tree was gone!

Thankfully, she wasn’t sad, but instead pretty much excited! She played for the rest of the day there, and I’m sure we will have another play session right now, after I’m done posting this.

Have a lovely Monday afternoon and evening everypawdy!

January 5, 2017 Cold front incoming

A cold front arrived over night. It’s bringing ice cold polar air, storm, ice and snow. It’s going to get cold, which also means no migraine. Which is awesome! It’s going to bring the winter temperatures that were normal when I was a child in the 80s and early 90s. We’ll see how long it lasts.

January 4 2017 4:26pm

Yesterdays setting sun illuminated the lowest layer of the clouds in a bright red, almost pinkish color. It was quite windy up there in the clouds. They were moving fast and in different speeds in multiple layers and heights.

When I got up this morning, some snow had fallen earlier. It really wasn’t a lot but it was fluffy snow, real snow and not frozen fog snow.

Took these photos when I came out of our apartment building. And I tried drawing a kitty face into the snow (I always draw stuff into the fresh snow at every chance I get, even though I can’t draw to safe my life lol). Poor kitty face is all disproportional… I need more practice lol!

December 27, 2016 Church Christmas decoration

The church right near us, has typical traditional Christmas decorations on their trees. It’s very simple, but it’s just like people decorated their trees in many regions of Austria for hundreds of years. Today, it’s mainly found in churches and rural areas. Ever since the Victorian era, people started to have more colorful decorations.

I’m loving colorful baubles and ornaments on my tree at home, but I do like to look at the traditional ones too. Thought I’d share
