Lots of Autumn pictures, the kitties and a cute hedgehog

By now it really looks like Autumn here. Back in the beginning of September, it was just a few leaves here and there, while everything was still green. But within the last two weeks, the leaves really started dropping fast. The temperatures we’re having are great though! Very warm in the afternoons. 20°C / 68°F to 25°C / 77°F and sunny every day. Only the mornings can be quite foggy, and the temperatures overnight and the mornings drop to around 10°C / 50°F or 7°C / 44.6F.

During the day, I don’t even put the heating on.

Foggy Fall Morning

This is one of the foggy early mornings these days. But as soon as that clears, the sun comes out and we have beautiful sunny Autumn days.

Since the afternoons have been so warm, we put everything outside for the cats and us of course, and we’re able to leave the balcony door open and the windows too.

But even if it’s too cold to be out, the cats still have sunny spots to hang out at if they want.

Samantha loves the little cat tree by the bedroom window. She’s lying on a valerian root cushions. It’s barely visible underneath her front legs.

We have a sweet little hedgehog we often see wandering around in the garden at night, so it was always too dark to get a pic or video. But I was lucky on Saturday and got a lovely video of him/her digging for worms and looking for slugs/snails. He found quite a bit and I hope this sweetie had a nice full tummy afterwards. Unfortunately, the video always loses lots of quality once it’s uploaded to YouTube, even though I record it in full HD.

I picked up the kitties meds from the Vet and I always go through this park to avoid the busy street with my bicycle. This awesome and huge tree is so lovely! It’s so big, I can’t even get it all into the frame (I also can’t go back much farther either…). This tree already looked huge like that when I was a little kid (I was born in 1980). I really wonder how old it really is. When this park was founded sometime in the late 1800s, there were only fields and farms with lots of trees already in place. So this tree could have easily been there before the park.

The sunsets we’re getting in fall are stunning as well! Here’s a little slideshow of the sunsets in the last couple of days.

November 29, 2016 at 8pm Sunny cold day and feeling good

Woke up today feeling just as well as these past two days; no migraine! Todays weather was sunny and we had a clear blue sky, but it was still cold with an icy cold wind blowing. For as long as it’s cold, I’ll feel fine. Murli feels good too and still does purrfect with her new food. No adverse reactions to it. So her body is apparently doing just fine with it. Otherwise she would have had issues by Sunday. I’m really happy with this!

Because I only got a few packs of catfood from the vet, since I couldn’t be sure she would like it and if her body would accept it. But because it’s all so well, I got some more from the vet today.

On my way between the tram station I had to get out and the vet office, I have to walk by the park (Volksgarten park) and saw my favorite tree again, purrfectly illuminated by the sun and still beautiful with a lot of colorful fall foliage on it.

I already played under that huge tree as a little child. Went there countless times with my Mama as a child. This park is full of beautiful memories for me. Too bad it’s not safe anymore to go through. Sigh…Such a wonderful old tree, that already stood there for who knows how many decades before I was even born. Hopefully this tree will see a better time again for this lovely park.

November 8, 2016 at 8:23pm – It was snowing a little today

What a good nights sleep we had, Murli and I. It was raining outside for most of the night and when I got up in the morning, it was snowing a little, but it was wet snow, so it’s didn’t stay. Shortly afterwards, it changed to normal rain. The highest temperature today was just 3°C / 37,4°F.

This is my city, Graz, from a webcam on top of the castle hill (Schlossberg). If someone is interested: Link to the webcam

Murli spend most of the morning and early afternoon napping in her favorite kitty bed.

I wonder if we get some snow this winter. It’s been such a long time since we had snow over christmas. In my childhood in the 80s and early 90s, we had lots of snow in the winter, especially in the 80s. There was snow for most of the winter. It was colder too. All this changed a lot. The climate is much warmer now and we don’t get snow here. Even the mountains get much less than than before. Usually it’s like today. Every now and then over the winter, there will be a bit of wet snow, which melts even before it reaches the ground. But I love the fall and the winter anyway, it’s my favorite season.

That’s how it was all day. Real dark. This is the castle hill btw, where the webcam overlooks our city.

You can still see the beautiful autumn colors, but all those remaining leaves will be on the ground soon. Those pictures where all taken in my area.

There is a lot I want to post and update, but I don’t get to it right now. Only in the evening, but then I’m already very tired. Like now. And I’ll go play with Murli now. Just wanted to share a couple photos from today.

Hope you all had a nice day!

November 4, 2016 – A couple nature photos

On my way home from the pet store, I decided to walk by that one park, after I got out of the bus, instead of getting into the tram right away from there. I knew the trees must look lovely in that autumn sunlight. The sun is already very low at 3pm in the afternoon, now after the daylight savings change. Today the sun set at 4:37pm already and it will be earlier and earlier every day now.

As I got to the sidewalk next to the park, I saw those things. I need to look up what they’re called in english, but they make a pop sound when you step on them.

The park belonged to a beautiful mansion and was private in the 1800s as nobles lived there. Today the park is public and it’s actually very beautiful. Too bad you can’t go in there anymore because in the last few years the park is now full of drug dealers and thugs. Even rivaling gangs. It’s not the only park either that got occupied by those people in recent years. It really is sad.

I was also able to take a beautiful pic of the sky, about 15 Minutes after sunset, from a window at home:

October 31, 2016 at 8:30pm

We had a good night and slept so well, and of course we woke up an hour early, but got up anyway. Unfortunately, I woke up with a migraine though, but after I took my triptan, it was gone again.

When I looked outside this morning, I saw them putting up the christmas lights in the street! Every year at the same time, they put up the lights. Another year has gone buy since I last stood at my window, taking pictures of them putting up the christmas lights… It doesn’t feel like it’s been a year. But the years haven’t been feeling like full years for some time now. Somehow, it feels like the time has sped up compared to my childhood and early 20s. Especially as a child, a year felt like an eternity.

This year, I saw the first christmas sweets and even decoration, by the end of August… Can you believe that? I don’t really know why that would be a good idea from the stores perspective. Does anyone even buy them that early? Are people supposed to eat christmas sweets for all those months until the christmas holidays? But they would be sick of it by the end of October, of not earlier… Or are people supposed to buy them at that time and then keep them until the holidays? But who wants old sweets? Neither makes sense 😂 😹 We love sweet things, a lot, but my dad and I will start with cookies and the like about two weeks before christmas. I look already forward to it. Murli would love them too! There are some cookies, that Murli goes all excited about when she smells them… I have to be careful not to have them accessible, otherwise Murli would get right into the cookie tin…

Later today, I went to grab a few things before the holiday tomorrow. I also got a couple new crotchet hooks from a sale, because I want to learn how to crotchet. I can do the basics, but I want to learn how to make awesome things to wear and other useful stuff.

On my way home, I took a shortcut through a church parking lot, which has a garden and trees that belong to the monastery there. The sun being so low, causes the light to be much warmer and more in the red of the colorspectrum, which looked beautiful on the yellow, red and brownish foliage on trees and bushes.

All of this is is near the city center.

Back home Murli was happy to see me back. She was hungry too and looking forward to the cooked chicken brest I made her before.

Now she sleeps behind me on the floor, on her favorite rug, while I sit at the computer. This Thrusday, on the 3rd of November, we have to go to the vet. It’s time for her vaccination shots and check up. Muri also has her skin problem again, where she gets itchy at the area before her ears, and some other small spots on her chin. It started just before the weekend. She had that problem in 2014 too. It goes away again after the medicine I have to put on those areas, which stops the itching, gets rid of any inflammation and desinfects the area. As soon as the medicine is on, the itching stops.

But no idea what it really is or what causes it. It doesn’t seem to be influenced by her food, or by anything else she has contact with. I have to use very mild and totally non irritating stuff myself, because of my rosacea and my overly sensitive skin, that reacts with inflammation to any chemical preservatives, BHA and BHT, Parabens, Phthalates, anything with Aluminum in it, many parfums and pretty much every chemical in mainstream cosmetics. So I just avoid them alltogether. Thankfully there are nowadays lots of alternatives, that are vegan and cruelty free and because of that usually harmless enough of my skin. I can’t even use sunscreen lol. Because my skin can’t tolerate the chemical UV filters in them. And because of my rosacea, I have to avoid the too much direct sun. Which is why I usually go with umbrellas in summer 😂

Anways, the point of that long explanation is, that there isn’t much in the home that could be harmful. Pretty much any and everything we use is organic, most food is usually bought from the farmers market and cleaners are environment friendly and as harmless as possible.

Murlis food is also without any bad chemicals, grain, or stuff that doesn’t belong. When Murli was still a kitten, she was often sick and had diarrhea and would throw up soon after she ate. I realized back then, that she simply can’t tolerate many of the ingredients in normal cat food. As soon as it’s just meat and the food is free of grain, artificial aromas, preservatives, food coloring and other additives, all is well. That’s how I noticed pretty quickly that it was the food, because as soon as I gave her cooked chicken breast, she was fine. Every meal would cause a reaction of her body very soon. If there is anything in the food she can’t tolerate, she’ll throw up and have diarrhea soon after. Poor baby! But ever since then, we have figured out what works and what must be avoided and we have enough food brands to choose from nowadays. Never again did we have those problems and Murli has been in purrfect health all those years.

Except for the few small spots of itchy skin, all is well. I’m sure there are some more things we can do to help with that. We will see what our Vet says on Thursday.

Now I’ll go and make some tea and have a comfy evening with Murli. Hope all of you are fine and you have a happy Halloween 🎃
