Weekend, June 1 and 2, 2019

Caturday, June 1, 2019

At 7am Sonic woke me up as he was trying to curl up on me… Once Murli knew I that I am awake, she came round as well. (Murli always knows. I don’t even have to move or make a sound. She knows as soon as I’m awake … ) Samantha has already been on the bed, curled up by Ralph’s legs. I was actually glad, since I really didn’t want to sleep anymore anyway.

I like mornings and getting up early usually. As soon as it’s morning (if it’s at least a more reasonable hour like 7am), I’m like “Yay! It’s finally morning! On to the coffee.” Before I get my coffee though, the cats get their breakfast. I can’t enjoy coffee while they look at me, pleading and meowing!

Again some new stuff for the cats…

After their breakfast, I put aside my coffee after about two sips, because I realised I can actually use the cat safety frame for the window that came the other day, since it was finally pleasantly warm today, even now in the morning. We already have a cat safety net for the whole living room window, but sometimes we just want to open it slightly, which is why I ordered it. I simply fixed it onto the window and it ended up being sturdy enough.

The size of the frame is exactly right. The width is perfect.

But now little Boss-cat Samantha needed to inspect it, to make sure I did it right and that it was good enough for the cats…

“Purr, I like it!”

It works just fine and it’s on there tightly. The cats would not be able to try and mess with it. They usually don’t mess with things anyway, but it’s better to be safe. I like that we get fresh air in, but it keeps it from blowing through too much.

It was a warm Caturday, but there were lots of clouds for the first half of the day. Later, it started to clear up a bit and the sun came through. The cats were happy to be out on the balcony again in the fresh but warm air.

Samantha took a few strings with her from the string curtain again, just in case nothing was going on on Kitty-TV.

But Kitty-TV was just as entertaining as always, so that even Sonic hung out on the balcony for quite a while.

Later the cats went in, because I think they got a bit too warm outside.

As every day, Samantha and Sonic gave each other a good clean. They usually end up having a little play-fight afterwards, which Sonic loves. The play-fighting never last long enough for Sonic, he always starts meowing to call Samantha back after she leaves…

Of course all of that is exhausting. So Sonic went to have a nice little nap in the bedroom.

Murli went had her nap outside a little later, since the sun was already behind the big tree and there was shade for the whole balcony.

The morning was even warmer than yesterday and it was sunny, despite a lot of fluffy white clouds. I got up at 8am, and after a few sips of coffee, I decided to get my camera and go all the way up the stairwell to the last communal balcony, to see the view and the sky:

I will go up there again to take better photos and probably for a video.

That is looking down to our balcony. The little black blob you see down there is Murli ;-) I got a bit dizzy looking down lol. I’m not used to being high up.

Murli

Sweet girl had no idea I was up there looking down on her, she was fast asleep after her breakfast. I went back down right after this picture.

Our day was quiet, but I did go out once to pick some sweets up from my Dad. When I was out, the sky had gotten so dark, I thought I would not make it back home dry. Thankfully though I did. But the weather stayed that way. The whole day we saw big black clouds. It stayed very warm, and the rain came in the early evening and only lastet a few minutes.

This is what the sky looked like for most of the day:

I’m glad that it’s finally gotten much warmer and it’s awesome that we’re now able to leave the windows open. It’s so much better for me to have constant fresh air, since stuffy air often causes migraines too.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! Much love from us all and thank you so much for always writing such nice comments and for all the likes on my posts <3

Merry Christmas!

What is going on Sonic, Murli & Samantha? It’s Christmas day! What happened with the time?

Ralph, I and the pussycats Murli, Samantha and Sonic wish all of you wonderful friends a merry Christmas and wonderful holidays! Hope you’re all comfy, warm & well.

We spent Christmas eve at my Dad’s, enjoying a wonderful dinner and a nice evening together. This Christmas morning, I woke up with a bad migraine and so the presents are still waiting under our little Christmas tree. It’s past 8pm now and we will finally get to it after I send off this little post.

I miss all of you, the blogging and our awesome chats in the comments, emails and by all other means. And reading your blogs of course!

It’s really almost unbelievable how quickly the last months went by since I flew to Spain in July, then Ralph’s, Samantha’s and Sonic’s move to Austria in mid September and since then the prolonged Hotelstay, getting the apartment, and during all that time the government appointments and paperwork. It was just shortly before Christmas, the 22nd in fact, when we got the last important paperwork. Now the worrying and exhausting bureaucracy is pretty much done. What remains now is all part of getting married. We’re a translation away from getting a date from the registry office. This date will likely be about two months out, because their schedule is so full.

So hopefully I will get back to blogging and keeping up with all of you much much more again.

Ralph and I are so happy and every day together is a gift. We’re enjoying every minute together and everytime I go out by myself, even if just for half an hour, I look forward to getting back home to my new lovely family and home of us and our sweet 3 cats. Despite all the worries and the exhaustion of this big change in our lives, especially for Ralph and the cats, it’s so worth it. We will soon be able to recover from it all and get on with living our new life together.

Murli is doing really well! She had a hard time in the beginning, as it was a huge change to her… New home, 2 new cats after being alone for many years and a new human! She was afraid of Sonic and Samantha, but she’s getting more and more used to them. Especially recently she’s getting better and better with them. She’s happy, playing and cuddling, chatting and eating more than enough. She loves to watch the birds and is especially thrilled to bits to have a balcony now! All 3 love the apartment and the windows and balcony are much better kitty TV than before.

I am so happy with our apartment and the area in which we live. It’s safe and quiet and we’re in the city centre really quickly too by tram or bus.

We are having a comfy and warm evening now, enjoying Stollen and coffee. The cats got quite a bit of treats… Murli was after the Stollen and the biscuits my Dad made… Oh dear.

Again, I wish all of you a wonderful Christmas time! Stay warm and enjoy the holidays!

June 3, 2017 Happy Caturday sweet furends!

Hey furends! Where do I even start after having been busy so much that I just didn’t manage posting. I guess first of all, we are both doing well! Murli is happy, talkative, playful and cuddly as always😸 The weather changed from a mostly cool spring, to summer heat within a short period of time. Of course with the usual high humidity we always have in summer. It started to warm up in mid May and on May 19 we had 84°F or 29°C, but it cooled down the next day due to a cold front and the temperatures remained in the lower 70°F or lower 20°C. On May 29, the temperatures went to 84°F or 29°C again and by the next day they increased to 89°F or 31°C. At first it wasn’t really that humid, and so it was not really uncomfortable and we did well with it. It didn’t take long however, for humidity to rise to 80% and more, especially in the late afternoon and during the night.

So Murli and I are currently adjusting to the temperatures, since we are not used to them yet. The temperatures later in summer will be a bit higher, with often 95°F or 35°C with high humidity. There will be days where it goes up to 100°F or 37°C. Murli lies on the cool floor during the day now,  or she naps at the open windows. When I get into bed to take a nap, she will jump into bed right away to nap next to me, but after a while she’ll feel too warm and she gets down on the floor. The thing is, she’ll come into bed again and again, because she really loves to sleep next to me. But she always has to get down again, since she’s too warm. I gave her a thin bedsheet. It feels cool to the touch and is made of linen. I use those in the summer all the time. I put a couple of them on her daytime nap places.

Here is a video of Murli from today at 10am.
The birds are very active, and the south windows are just comfy to
relax on. I made it so she has shade there for most of the day. Murli is
chatty like usual. She talks like this with me if I cuddle and pet her,
and anytime I interact with her in some way. I talk to and with her all day,
and we're both very chatty MOL!

Yesterday in the early evening at about 6pm, a bad thunderstorm came through, with lots of hail unfortunately. The hail started shortly after the rain had set in and it kept going for good 10 minutes. After that the hail stopped, and the rain changed to a light rainfall. But the frequent and closeby lightning kept going till about 8pm. As always, I had to get Murli off the window, because she loves watching the hail. I’m always totally protective of her, and don’t want her near the windows when its bad. You never know if the glass could break if the hail gets bad enough (happened last year to many windows in the street). After I got Murli off the window, I started filming. And at that point, the hail increased as well.

In the beginning of the video, I added a short time lapse and a few photos I took
before the actual rain and hail started.

Thankfully, the hail wasn’t that bad all over the city. Because I was really sad at first, thinking the newly planted flowers on my Mamas grave and my Grandparents grave were now all destroyed. Dad went there to take a look today, and they were all fine. A friend of our family told us that the hail was pretty much harmless a in other areas of the city. So glad for that!

As for today… the weather was sunny again, as well as humid and hot. But we took a nap during the hottest part of the day, and have a comfy afternoon and evening now. Murli also got one of her favorite treats, which is Turkey ham. She prefers Turkey ham over normal ham… by far. She absolutely loves it. And I love making her happy!

Also, this weekend is a long weekend, because Monday is a holiday (Whit Monday). We make it a relaxed but fun weekend at home. Murli already had her FridayNightBagPawty yesterday. For today, she’ll be getting a new bag! It’s from Aldi, and bigger MOL! Of course there will be pictures of it all😆😸

Happy Caturday to all of you lovely furends!💕 We send you all love & paw hugs! Thank you all for reading and posting those sweet comments! You’re all wonderful!😽😘💕

May 7, 2017 Lazy Sunday

May 5, 2017 3:49pm

Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Aside from being busy, the week ended well! No migraines for a couple of days either, despite the weather changes from cold to warm and back. I’ve ended up pretty exhausted every evening though. Some of you already know about me having to pack up my belongings that a friend of mine kept in storage for me in their free storage room they didn’t need. But because they increased the rent dramatically for that apartment, my friend is moving out. We had hoped we will have found a solution for all my stuff by now, but because everything came different from what we had planned back then, my furniture and household goods had been there the entire time since 2012.

So I’m working on that every day a little bit and then help with cooking and a bunch of other stuff at home that my Dad was usually doing, since my he is not able to do much with that bandage on his hand at the moment. He isn’t in any pain though, it’s just a hindrance.

Murli was able to enjoy the sun yesterday and today for the most part, even though we were supposed to get rain all weekend and the temperatures were supposed to drop pretty low again. It’s also warm enough today for us to leave at least the small window open, which is always wonderful.

On Friday it was still a bit too chilly for open windows all afternoon, but at least we had sun for the most part. There were definitely enough sun puddles for Murli to enjoy. The sun was already gone from that spot when I took the picture of her at the kitchen window. There are always a lot of birds zooming by here.

Murli “I cud have swears me saws sumthin. Sumthin waz there jus nao. Maybe iz comin back! I better keepz lookin.”

The kitchen window. Even though I’d put all kinds of blankies and even one of her kitty beds there, she goes and naps next to them MOL. But the cooler surface is better when it’s getting hot anyway.

Murli sends purrs and paw hugs to all of you and we think of the ones who are sad and have difficult times. Love to you all!

May 2, 2017 Some more catching up

Hi dear furends! We really seem to have a bit of a streak of bad luck right now… Yesterday, my Dad cut himself into the ring finger of the right hand with a vegetable grater… It wasn’t pretty. Lots of bleeding. But it’s not serious at all thankfully, but he can’t really do much with the bandage on him. He also doesn’t have full use of his left hand due to a Meningitis as a small child. Which means I’m helping out with things that involve the more fine motor skills, like cutting up all the food, so he can just grab little pieces. Pouring something to drink and helping him get his shoes on. Of course the shopping too, which is something we shared.

He has to go to our family doctor every day now to have them change the bandage every day for the first few days now. It’s a fairly small cut, but deep enough to take a bit longer to fully close and heal. It’s too small for stitches even.

It must really seem like we are one constantly in trouble with health stuff. This year is really very strange. Starting with both of us getting the actual influenza, then my Dad’s neck nerve started acting up, which also sends pain through his arm. Then I worried about Murlis eye, which just turned out to be a stubborn fur hair that bothered her so much and everything was fine as soon as her tears cleaned that hair out. Then I got my bout of the shingles and needed a week until I was finally awake enough to be online again lol. Now this happened.

Aside from my chronic pain and migraines, we are usually never having anything going on. We go years without any illness or accidents like cuts and bruises from falling are even more rare. I think I had my last accident as a child. Most years I don’t even get a runny nose during the flu and cold season. So I have no idea what’s with our luck right now…

Regarding my migraines, I really had quite the good phase for a while. But I have had migraines every day now for 3 days. Usually one starts in the early afternoon or at noon. But I am able to get rid of them fairly quickly thanks to the Triptan I’m prescribed. As the ones who know me for a bit will know, they cause me to be really sleepy and tired for the rest of the day. That’s the thing that keeps me from things. But without the Triptan, I’d be in agony. But tiredness doesn’t hurt, so I’m doing that exchange gladly😊

I feel really quite bad for all of you sweet friends, because it takes me so long to respond and find the time to visit your blogs, and chat with my instagram and twitter furends. That and posting things myself is something I look forward to so much every time. So it’s sad when I can’t make it. Especially because I’m so happy to have met and befriended such kind and sweet people and their kitties 💕 Murli loves to hang out on my desk every day, or when I hang out on the couch or bed with my iPad… She sits right next to me, or on me, and watches what’s happening on the screen😺

Now I’ll go and make something to eat for Dad. But I’ll be replying to your lovely comments as soon as I’m done with all the household chores. Hugs! And purrs from Murli to all of you!
